I was on a car ride to the airport
Heading home from Nagasaki for the holiday
Hoping that I’d come back one day

The driver asked where I see myself in a perfect world
Five years from now

I hesitated and said “Maybe I’ll be here if I’m lucky”

And he said “I didn’t ask what you’d settle for
In a perfect world, where are you five years from now?”

And I thought I’d be oceans away from home
And spend holidays away from family
Missing them dearly
I don’t think I could go years at a time seeing them rarely

But there I was in a perfect world five years from now
So far away from my family
