It Doesn't Hurt Anymore

When the world shut down I fled to my room
In the basement of my parents’ house
I picked up a guitar and taught myself all I know
I still feel like a hack sometimes
‘Cause I only play my own songs
I never learned The Story So Far
Mayday Parade or Turnover
But I can play my own songs
I can play my own songs
Since those days I’ve moved away
I fell in love and got married
My wife is teaching me to be confident
I spend these days less afraid, ‘cause
Someone told me life gets better
When we can be ourselves
And attract those who like us
For who we really are
I lost a friend with the words I wrote
It doesn’t hurt anymore
He blocked me everywhere
It doesn’t hurt anymore
He’s a bigot anyway
It doesn’t hurt anymore
I don’t need fake friends
So it doesn’t hurt anymore
